Betere bescherming waterkwaliteit is noodzakelijk

De waterkwaliteit in Nederland staat sterk onder druk. Ons grond- en oppervlaktewater bevat teveel meststoffen, bestrijdingsmiddelen, PFAS, medicijnresten, microplastics en andere schadelijke stoffen. De Inspectie Leefomgeving en Transport (ILT) benadrukt in haar signaalrapport ‘Betere bescherming waterkwaliteit is noodzakelijk’ dat het stelsel van vergunningverlening, toezicht en handhaving moet worden verbeterd. Daarnaast moet de regelgeving meer gericht zijn op het beschermen van de waterkwaliteit. Deze maatregelen zijn essentieel om de uitdagingen rondom de waterkwaliteit aan te pakken.
